Lavonia, along with all of Franklin County, is truly a Land of Spirit. From the spirit of our founding fathers through the spirit of our people of today, Franklin County is rich in history and true southern hospitality. Through the production of the Lavonia/Franklin County Folk Life Play, Land of Spirit, the essence of this spirit is being preserved and relived year after year. Land of Spirit Folk Life Play, supported by A Greater Lavonia Community, Inc., was founded in 2008 and the premier play "The Last Hard Times" was performed at the Lavonia Cultural Center (the old armory building located at 12005 Augusta Rd, Lavonia, GA 30553 was transformed into a theatre with state of the art lighting).
